We engage highly skilled independent technical professionals to execute specialized, milestone-based scope of work deliverables. This engagement is open to remote independent contractors in the United States or qualified offshore/nearshore contractors with direct Pricefx implementation experience.
Engagement Mission & Scope Overview
The Pricefx Solution Architect Contractor provides expert-level solution design, technical leadership, and architectural oversight critical to the successful delivery of complex SaaS pricing implementations.
Operating as the primary technical authority on assigned project modules, you will translate complex business requirements into robust, scalable, and maintainable Pricefx architecture designs while providing technical governance to configuration and integration engineers across the project lifecycle.
Contracted Deliverables Across Implementation Lifecycle
The contractor will independently execute and manage the following key technical deliverables:
1. Architecture Design & Solution Blueprinting
-
Formulate high-level and detailed solution architecture designs aligned with client business objectives and Pricefx platform best practices.
-
Define system boundaries, data flow models, and architectural specifications for core Pricefx modules (Price Setting, Quoting, Rebates, Agreements, Analytics).
-
Design data integration patterns between Pricefx and external enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, CPQ).
2. Requirements Formalization & Story Specification
-
Lead technical discussions to capture, analyze, and translate complex client business logic into formalized technical specifications and user stories.
-
Identify conflicting logic, contradictory pricing rules, or architectural edge cases, providing formal written risk assessments and resolution proposals.
-
Define rigorous technical acceptance criteria for configuration and integration components.
3. Technical Oversight & Configuration Strategy
-
Establish configuration guidelines and coding standards for native Pricefx script development using Groovy.
-
Provide architectural direction to Configuration Engineers and Integration Engineers to ensure alignment with approved solution blueprints.
-
Conduct technical code reviews and validate custom logic implementations.
4. Integration Design & System Interoperability
-
Define integration specifications for data exchange via REST APIs, web services, and ETL middleware (e.g., Apache Camel, Pricefx Integration Manager).
-
Validate data models, transformation rules, and schema mappings connecting Pricefx with enterprise systems such as SAP ECC, S/4HANA, Salesforce, and Microsoft Dynamics.
5. Defect Resolution & Quality Governance
-
Provide senior-level technical triage and root-cause analysis for complex bugs and architectural defects.
-
Liaise directly with Pricefx product support and client technical teams to resolve core platform or integration issues.
-
Deliver evidence-backed technical quality gate evaluations and sign-offs prior to key deployment milestones (Sprint completion, SIT, UAT, and Go-Live).
Contractor Qualifications & Expertise
Required Technical & Domain Qualifications
-
Certifications: Valid Pricefx Solution Architect Certification is required. Pricefx Configuration Engineer (CE) or Integration Engineer (IE) certifications are strongly preferred.

Pricing Domain Expertise: In-depth domain knowledge of B2B pricing strategies, discount structures, rebate management, price optimization, live price grids, and CPQ workflows.
-
Data & Web Technologies: Hands-on experience with relational databases (SQL, schema design, complex query optimization) and web technologies (REST APIs, JSON, Web Services, HTML).
-
Enterprise Integration: Proven experience designing data integrations connecting SaaS solutions with enterprise systems such as SAP, Salesforce, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.

Evaluation & Assessment Process
To verify technical capabilities and architecture proficiency, qualified applicants will undergo a streamlined evaluation process:
-
Initial Technical Discussion: A 30-minute review of prior Pricefx architecture projects, engagement terms, and availability.
-
Practical Architecture Assessment: A 45-minute practical exercise in a Pricefx sandbox environment. Candidates will be provided with a complex client pricing scenario and user story specifications to evaluate architectural strategy, Groovy configuration approach, and technical problem-solving capabilities in real time.
How We Interview
Our evaluation process is focused on practical capabilities rather than passive resume reviews:
-
Initial Introductory Call: A brief conversation to review your background, communication skills, and engagement availability.
-
Practical Working Session (45 Minutes): A live practical exercise where you will review a set of sample pricing user stories, evaluate data results, identify logic contradictions, and write up a reproducible defect report using your standard tools.
Contractor Compensation & Engagement Terms
Proposed contract rates for this engagement depend on experience and scope of deliverables. As an independent contractor, services will be provided on an invoice basis without eligibility for employee benefits or bonus programs.
